Pros and Cons Values
"LabWare is a good system but still hasn't caught up to their competitors on User Friendliness"
❌ What’s Not Great
“The User Interface is not intuitive and the visual workflow solution is only a surface level enhancement that takes the user back to data entry and admin screens that haven’t changed in 20 years. Also, with very little out-of-box functionality, setup requires more time and tedious configurations than other LIMS products.”
✅ Positive Notes
“LabWare is infinitely configurable to your business needs.”
"Labware LIMS Administration I - Training Review"
❌ What’s Not Great
“System is based on “LIMS basic” which inhibits functionality due to its age. Basis on what is now an archaic coding system greatly limits learners and technicians to the specificity this language demands.”
✅ Positive Notes
“Labware LIMS has a set of predefined templates that gives your database and LIMS system a framework while allowing you to customize the interface and processing templates as required.”
"Labware LIMS Basic Training"
❌ What’s Not Great
“Haven’t found anything yet. There is nothing we haven’t been able to configure in our system.”
✅ Positive Notes
“I have been using Labware LIMS for over 20 years, and our labs have been paperless since it was rolled out in 2003. It is very configurable and has allowed us to build functionality to serve specific business needs. It is an excellent product. Recently, I attended a 3-day course for LIMS Basic and found it to be very useful and directly related to my daily work. The trainer was highly knowledgeable and very helpful.”
"Excellent Training for LIMS stability module"
❌ What’s Not Great
“Reporting is complex, mainly if you use the old LIMS version. It isn’t straightforward to generate graphs if you don’t know all the data and can’t have multiple charts in one go.”
✅ Positive Notes
“I find Labware LIMS a robust product. It provides easy navigation for functionality, result entry, and reporting and meets compliance requirements. LIMS application provides functionality to enhance existing functionality for their module. This customization is more straightforward than I have observed in many other enterprise systems. The Service support for the product is top-notch, and the email distribution list to ask questions is very effective and authentic.”
"Awesome LIMS software"
❌ What’s Not Great
“The online web version is slow over the internet; the app version performs much better.”
✅ Positive Notes
“Easy to understand, data entry is straightforward, historical results are easy to retrieve, and there is plenty to learn and explore.”

Editor Review
LabWare LIMS stands out for its high degree of customization and flexible adaptability, qualities that many lab professionals find essential for managing complex workflows and ensuring data integrity. Users consistently praise the system’s ability to tailor processes with predefined templates and modular add-ons, making it a versatile solution for diverse lab operations. However, these strengths come with notable challenges. Multiple reviews highlight a steep learning curve and a user interface that can range from outdated to overly complex, particularly for novice users. Integration with external instrument software and dependencies on specific operating systems further complicate deployment. Although customer support is frequently commended for responsiveness and robust training, the inherent intricacies of configuration and reporting can result in time-consuming setups and unexpected hurdles during upgrades. Overall, while LabWare LIMS offers powerful functionality and industry-standard reliability, labs with limited IT resources may face difficulties in reaping its full potential without significant customization and training investments
