Pros and Cons Values
"LabWare is an essential LIS for labs that oftentimes love using Excel for too many things"
❌ What’s Not Great
“LabWare support is not always the most helpful in responding to queries, especially when it comes to bugs in LIMS Basic functions.”
✅ Positive Notes
“Database structure, ease in creating subroutines, template solutions, ELN, and storage location manager.”
"LabWare NA 2023"
❌ What’s Not Great
“I don’t like the dependance on Microsoft Windows. LabWare is database agnostic and it should be OS agnostic as well.”
✅ Positive Notes
“I like that it is privately owned and not being moved around to other owners via buyouts. I like the flexibility of the software.”
"Labware LIMS - Extremely versatile and helpful system and company"
❌ What’s Not Great
“My only real complaint is that I feel it could be simpler. There are settings such as facility and plant that we don’t need that still have to be configured. The process template that was brought it also had a previous set-up in it so there were/are a ton of analysis/subroutines/etc present that are not needed. It make it more confusing in trying to see what does what.”
✅ Positive Notes
“The customization that is built into labware platform is amazing. The system is robust and versatile. The team support that labware provides are on point and can fit your needs so that you have a functional system. Once you create a visual workflow, its very easy to install since it cloud based and very easy to use and navigate. Training operators and techs is no issue once its configured properly. The system is frequently used in operations and QC for compiling daily testing and monitoring of the process. Integrating with scanners and tablets makes is very convenient. It is highly customizable and can do just about anything you want.”
"Very flexible, but processes may be a bit complicated."
❌ What’s Not Great
“To be more friendly user, to have more capacity to manage very big ammounts of data (as an example the creation of +18k samples at a time).”
✅ Positive Notes
“That the system is very flexible to be adapated to the different business needs.”
"Industry Best LIMS System"
❌ What’s Not Great
“Since LabWare LIMS can be incredibly customized and specifically designed, it can be challenging when it comes time to upgrade to a new version. It is advantageous to minimize customization when at all possible to prevent pitfalls when upgrading in the future.”
✅ Positive Notes
“LabWare LIMS is the industry standard for LIMS Systems that provides a comprehensive and customizable platform with world class product support. The latest generations of the LabWare LIMS platform offer pre-designed templates so the LIMS System can be deployed out of the box with only minimal configuration needed to get up and running.”

Editor Review
LabWare LIMS stands out for its high degree of customization and flexible adaptability, qualities that many lab professionals find essential for managing complex workflows and ensuring data integrity. Users consistently praise the system’s ability to tailor processes with predefined templates and modular add-ons, making it a versatile solution for diverse lab operations. However, these strengths come with notable challenges. Multiple reviews highlight a steep learning curve and a user interface that can range from outdated to overly complex, particularly for novice users. Integration with external instrument software and dependencies on specific operating systems further complicate deployment. Although customer support is frequently commended for responsiveness and robust training, the inherent intricacies of configuration and reporting can result in time-consuming setups and unexpected hurdles during upgrades. Overall, while LabWare LIMS offers powerful functionality and industry-standard reliability, labs with limited IT resources may face difficulties in reaping its full potential without significant customization and training investments
